The History of Fellowship House

The Schizophrenia Fellowship of Albany was founded in 1981. In its initial stages meetings were conducted in private homes, and this remained the case for 8 years. Eventually, with community support, the fellowship established its own permanent residence called Fellowship House. The initial premises was located on Aberdeen Street and this served as the home for the fellowship for approximately 4 years. Eventually Fellowship House was rellocated to the premises on Alexander Street, a larger space that allowed for a common area for clients to meet and interact, as well as improved facilities for conducting classes in art & craft, sewing & computing.

In 2005, with community support and funding, Fellowship House was relocated to its current premises on Stead Road. This building was built especially for the fellowship, and saw further improvement in quality of the environment & facilities available for clients, staff & volunteers.
